Welcome Steve Gaucher, Security Consultant

Today, we are excited to welcome Steve Gaucher to IX Solutions as a Security Consultant!

Steve comes to us from the beautiful city of Kelowna, BC—where he settled after moving from Merritt, BC to attend college in the Okanagan.

Steve's professional journey in IT began at Sun-Rype Products, where he quickly progressed from help desk roles to systems administration. He further developed his expertise at Tolko as the IT systems administrator for the Kelowna mill, and later at the City of Vernon as a network administrator. Most recently, Steve served as a security engineer at Aritzia, where he played a crucial role in enhancing the popular retailer’s security posture.

An alumnus of Okanagan College, Steve graduated with a diploma in Network and Telecommunications Engineering in 2009. He remains actively involved with the college as a member of the Program Advisory Council, helping to shape the curriculum and mentor future graduates.

At IX Solutions, Steve's responsibilities will include conducting security assessments and recommending strategies to fortify client environments using advanced Microsoft security products like Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Sentinel SIEM. He will also play a key role in incident response and recovery, ensuring robust protection for our clients.

What Steve looks forward to most about working at IX Solutions is the commitment to placing clients at the heart of every decision—a philosophy that resonates deeply with his own values of honesty and integrity. He is eager to contribute to our culture of delivering top-tier, client-focused security solutions.

Steve's favourite aspect of his job?

“As a security consultant, every day is a new opportunity in terms of new threats and finding the solutions for them,” he says. “IT security is the thin line between anarchy and polite society—we protect people and businesses alike from malicious parties.”

Outside of work, Steve is an avid mountain biker (or as he describes it: “I like to throw myself down rocky, narrow mountain trails on two wheels”). He also leads the organization, registration, and timing of a local grassroots cyclocross series. When he's not on his bike, he's managing the series' website and social media. Steve also enjoys spending quality time with his wife, two children, and their two rescue dogs.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Steve to the team! You can connect with him at steve.gaucher@ixsolutions.ca or on LinkedIn
